Hello everyone,
It should be 3rd September Internation Merchant Navy day, that should be taught in our schools. Its John Howard who should be reading the truth about our history, of why 3rd September should be our National day of Remembrance. He quotes that Australia has only two official days of Remembrance that should be taught in our schools. ANZAC DAY and REMEMBRANCE DAY: Its time to put the record straight of history. If it was not for the heroic stand made by the Australian Merchant Navy in WWII, their would be no ANZAC DAY or REMEMBRANCE DAY to Celebrate. History: The war time leader in WWII, the late HON. John Curtin 6th March 1943, Whenever you see a man in the street wearing the distinctive M.N. Badge, Raise your hat to him, because without theses gallant men the war would be lost. Following this the Minister for Defense HON. John A. Beazley made the following statement. With due reference to the splendid services of the armed forces, I can say the recent operations around New Guinea and the South Pacific, would not have succeeded but for the magnificent courage showed by the Australian Merchant Navy. Why did theses two men of history make theses statements. Both theses men were fully aware of the top secret negotiations between the late HON. John Curtin, Government and the top brass of the American Forces in the Pacific area. Both the Government, and the RSL, are running scared of the real truth coming out, we shall keep on pressing for the truth to be told. Regards Andysite. |

Hi Billy
I sent a message yesterday12th Feb 07 but am a little unsure as to whether or not you received it? I am researching the crew of MV Melbourne Star sunk 2nd April 1943 in the Atlantic. I was delighted to find two more crew members on this website, S Rippon & S White. I would be pleased if you could let me know where the memorial Panel 69 is located? Should any of your membership have any information re: the passengers or crew who were on the MV Mebourne Star during her final voyage I would be pleased to hear from them. Many thanks for your help. John White (No relation to S White, above, but related to Leonard White one of the four survivors) |

Hi Andysite.
MND3Sep or International IMND3Sep The same difference. The announcement by Prime Minister John Curtin and the truth and exodus from Darwin was described as "Australia's Day Of Shame." My present research is to record a figure of the Aboriginal Merchant Seamen listed on Articles Some killed aboard HMAHS Manunda Darwin or serving in the Forces particularly to our North (Curtins Cowboys)and the part played across Australia's North in the event of an invasion. Our Web/Forum/Pedia has good coverage I would appreciate any personal account or listing of events of Aboriginal Merchant Seamen or Sevicemen during WW2 for leads or the record. Regards Ron(S) Two good sites. (!)Hospital Ship 2/1 HMAHS Manunda. (2) HMAHS Manunda History. Both Google uo OK. Thanks.(R) Last edited by Ron (Steve) Wylie : 19-01-2010 at 10:57 PM. |
