My Father served on Merchant ships during World War 2. He amused my sister and I with many yarns and stories about his experiances. When he passed away back in 1979 I recieved his medals among some other artifacts. My mother had kept his seamen's book from his WWll days and his Seamen's book from his Peace time sailing on the great Lakes. When my mother passed away in 1995 my sister and I believed that my father's WWll book was among the photos and albums that we had now inherited. How ever after several moves, I have discovered that the Seamens books that would list the ships my father sailed on during WWll and Peacetime to be only one or two pages of peace time fragments. My sister is either in B.C. or N.S. not communicating. I am trying to find out where I can if possable obtain a copy of these records for my records. Any help is appreciatted Thanks.

Hello Gordon and welcome.
If you are unable to visit Kew then read on. You will have to go through the paid for research service see link below. The cost is £15 for 15 mins research. However, given the references that Roger has supplied should minimise the time taken to do this. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/g...nu_research0_h His seaman's pouch is in this file at Kew BT 372/734/69 His CRS 10 (service record) is held at Kew in file BT 382/1318 If you fill in this form and ask for an estimate for copying "BT 372/734/69 the Seaman's Pouch for R311135 NICHOLLS O G 30/12/1924 ONTARIO and BT 382/1318 the CRS 10 for R311135 NICHOLLS O G 30/12/1924 ONTARIO" They will contact you by email giving you an estimate before proceeding with the order. Hope that helps. Regards
